About the Band
Fortress is a classic rock cover band out of central Massachusetts formed in 2023. Their repertoire includes high-energy hits from the 70s through the 90s you grew up rockin' to. Their live shows will have you up and shakin' it, singing along, and yelling for more!
Jeff Mullen
Lead Vocals & Guitar
Jeff has been a vocalist ever since joining his first band while on a deployment with the Marine Corps in 1997. Singing might not have happened if he hadn't stumbled onto the ship's band practice sessions and, for some reason, they allowed him to front the band.
For over ten years he was a member of the cover band One Down, playing all throughout New England.
At each show, Jeff strives to bring out the energy of the crowd and make people have fun for a few hours. Come on out, sing along with Jeff, and make some noise!
Steve Wilson
Bass & Backing Vocals
Steve's music career all started with an S&H Green Stamps acoustic guitar his grandmother gave him at age 5. Then, dazzled by his mom's Hammond organ—especially the big black pedals—the music bug had bitten deeper.
While playing trumpet in high school, a friend noticed his musical ability and invited Steve to play the bass that no one else wanted to play. Destiny was set, and Steve was drawn back to the low end.
He then spent years recording in the original music scene and playing everything from metal to blues and even country. Now in Fortress, Steve's ready to shake up the low end for your grooving and dancing pleasure!
Russ Sykes
Drums & Backing Vocals
Russ has been playing drums for decades, even though he began as a trumpet player through school bands as a kid. He has always had a love for music, evident by the different styles he listens to and plays.
Russ has been in and out of cover bands for years, playing in southern New Hampshire and the Merrimac Valley. Playing drums has been and will always be a BIG part of his life, as shown in his performances.
ROCK ON!
Mike Kocik
Guitar & Backing Vocals
Mike's first "guitar" was a Prince Court Pro he used to air jam along with his older brother's Van Halen records. When he finally got an actual guitar, it was a life-transforming event. He's still slinging that same axe with Fortress today.
Since the late 1980s, Mike has been in several memorable and forgettable rock bands as a guitarist and bassist. Originally from Rochester, NY, he should be forgiven for his accent.
